Lord Krishna declares in verse 20 of chapter two in Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta:
Na jayate mriyate va kadchinnayam
bhutva bhavita va na bhuyah I
Ajo nityah shashvatoayam puararho
na hanyate hanymane sharire II (2.20)
Soul is never born nor it dies; nor does it become so only on being born. It is unborn, eternal, ever lasting and ancient; it does not die even though body is slain.
Lord Krishna is unfolding truth of life.
Life is not only to eat, drink and be merry.
It is certainly beyond that.
The human form is mini universe and self realization is so easy in this form that the top most of the sinners has a chance to realize his true self by devotion to Lord.
By chanting his names, one is able to clean his consciousness.
Complete surrenders of every act unto Lord free self soul.
If embodied self soul has same degree of interest in attaining self realization, meditation and self bliss as it has in attaining material acquisitions, it has no difficulty in crossing ocean of transmigration. If it develops detachment towards worldly objects, desire to attain satisfaction through sense gratification, passion, anger and love for real self, there is nothing surprising in attaining self realization instantly.
Lord Krishna says in chapter 5 of Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta:
shaknotiehaiv yah sodhum parak sharirvimoksharhat I
kamkrodhudbhavam vegam sa yuktah sa sukhi narah II (5.23)
Who is able to withstand the urges of lust and anger in this very life before casting this body, is a yogi and is alone a happy man.
All the sense objects work through the commands of mind which is store of our past and present experiences. It also takes the impressions of sense objects with the help and under the control of intellect. Main sense of lust is uncontrollable and every desire is depiction of lust.
May be lust for money, material, women, and so on.
Non fulfillment of desire ends in anger, violence and so many other repercussions. If an embodied soul unattached with embodiment is not affected by these two phenomenons then it is embodiment of a yogi and happy man.
Lust when transformed into devotion to Lord Krishna becomes source of eternal happiness.
Embodiment is the result of past identifications and tendencies which remain stored in mind and come out at fixed tome in form of reactions. Body is not really beautiful. If it were it would remain so even after death. Iy is bag of bones, muscle, blood, fat, latrine, urine and is doomed to disintegrate when it becomes lifeless.
These thoughts should be placed before the mind repeatedly.
Lord Krishna says in chapter 13:
Indrathyeshu varagyayam unanahkar ev cha I
Janam mirtyu jaravyadhi dukh dosha anudarshanam II(13.8)
Dispassion towards sense objects, absence of egoism, pondering over again and again over and about pain and evils inherent in the birth and death, old age and disease.
By this way one should get rid of identification with body, knowing it to be transient and unreal. It is full of miseries.
One has to dwell upon the idea of being eternal consciousness.
Body is like a rented house. Consciousness is not the owner of this house. It has to leave it at appointed time.
As a traveler leaves a train when a particular destination arrives, the soul is traveler in the body. It has to undergo reactions for liberation from transmigration.
Lord Krishna tells Arjun in chapter three of Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta
Niytam kuru karam twam karam jyayo hiakarmarhah I
Shararyatraapi ch te na parsidhiyedakaramarhahna II (3.8)
Therefore you do perform your allotted duty; for action is superior to inaction. Body maintenance also requires actions.
Problem with self soul is that when mind feels happiness or pain through outward sense organs, it identifies with the mind and attaches itself to them rather it identifies itself with them and invites bondage.
This entire universe is thus created by this perception.
Just as a man watching a band of dancers or singers imitates them, so the atman/self, even though without activity, is moved to imitate the attributes of mind and intellect. This has become spontaneous from its habitually conditioned from the experiences of past enumerable embodiments.
Human embodiment is not to act like that of other embodiments but it has been blessed for self realization.
Which we can do by renouncing desires and attachment completely
Self less actions lead to liberation and actions done with attachment are binding for the ever free atman.
Lord is here advising all human beings that they are bound to act as per their nature but see them being done by nature alone without attaching themselves with them.
Self is not perceptible because two factors, one is that self ‘I’ is missing and transient embodiment being identified as ‘I’ which means acceptance of existence of none existing and not recognizing ever existing ‘I’ that is self.
The embodiment with which this self soul has identified is made of five elements of material nature viz earth, space, fire, water and air. This rented house is not ours. When this is realized, a natural conclusion arrived is that I am real ‘I’ eternal truth and not this rather distinct from transient body.
Lord Krishna tells in chapter five:
yoantah sukhohantaramastathaantrjyotiev ye I
sa yogi barahamnirvarham barahambhutoadhigachhati II (5.24)
Happy within him self, enjoying within him self the delight of the soul and illuminated by inner light of soul, such a yogi identified with Lord/self attains self who is all peace.
Self is all pervading. Who sees self, who enjoys self alone and gratified with self, who rests in self, whose innermost is illuminated by the existence of self within, such a yogi identified with lord/self attains Lord/ Self who is the ultimate end.
Again He says:
labhante barahamnirvarham rishia kshirhkalmashah I
chhindvedha yatatmnah sarvbhuthite ratah II ( 5.25)
Doubts dispelled altogether and a sinless soul engaged in welfare of all beings is firmly established in Lord/ soul attain all peace Lord/ self alone.
Knowing the reality of lord being beyond any evil and pervading all beings without any discrimination, a Yogi whose all sins are wiped out, is firmly established in Lord/Self, engages in service of all beings without any difference as he sees Lord in every inanimate or animate object, and ultimately attains self alone.
